I have been dancing with P.L.A.I.D. for 7 1/2 years. I started when I was 5 1/2 and I am now almost 13 years old. Our dance school isn't just a school, we are a family. This has by far been the best experience of my life. Michelle is a great teacher. She doesn't let us get stuck on our mistakes but encourages us to keep going. I can"t imagine dancing for any other school.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. When looking for an Irish Dance instructor look for one that is certified. If you are interested in competition then a teacher certified with CLRG or An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha would be a great choice. Also check out the facilities available. Be sure to visit the class and meet the instructor to assure a good fit.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Irish dance can seem very expensive and may keep someone from joining but it is a fantastic experience for any child. Competing is not necessary but is a natural part of the Irish Dance world. Depending on how far you go will determine the cost in the future. There are competitions, performance groups, and team dancing. There are many areas to get involved.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Are you certified? With what organization?
How long have you been teaching?
What is your desire for my child?
What is the goal of your academy?
If my child is serious how will you take them to the next level?
If my child just wants to dance because it is fun is that alright?
What if my dancer is not all that great but loves it. How will they be treated?
