Introduction: Have you ever wondered what you would do if you were faced with a medical emergency? What would you do if someone suddenly collapsed in front of you? Would you know how to check them to make sure they are okay? Would you know what to do if they were not breathing and did not have a pulse? By Learning the skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to effectively use an automated external defibrillator (AED), you will know exactly what to do, when it really counts the most! Each year an estimated 166,000 lives are claimed by sudden cardiac arrest. That's about 455 people each day. Effective bystander CPR, provided immediately after a sudden cardiac arrest can double or even triple a victim's chance of survival. This week, take the opportunity to learn CPR and how to use an AED. You could be a lifesaver. Heroes aren't born. They're trained. So this is what the class is all about. The CPR class is approximately a 3-4 hour class that encompasses the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. The goal of an AHA course is to prepare students to deliver effective resuscitation. The recommended renewal interval for all AHA courses is 2 years. There are different classes available. Classes include: - CPR/AED - First Aid - Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Course The BLS Healthcare Provider Course teaches the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-valve-mask device, and oxygen), use of an AED, and relief of a foreign body airway obstruction. The course is designed for healthcare providers who care for patients in a wide variety of settings, both in and out of hospital. At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to: 1. Demonstrate on a manikin the current sequences and techniques for CPR 2. Use of an Automated Defibrillator 3. Relief of foreign body airway obstruction for adult, child, and infant victims Classes can be held in just about anywhere, whether it be in the home or an office. It is preferable if you have audio/visual equipment available such as a TV and DVD player if possible but not required. I have the necessary equipment and can travel.

Shane is very knowledgeable and makes the CPR class fun. He touches on all of the areas of CPR, including the hands on portion which really is important. It's a great refresher course, as well.
