Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Construction in the residential field has always been around me. Past work consists of foundation and concrete work, framing, interior and exterior finishes such as stucco and drywall, kitchen bathroom and room additions, carpentry, flooring, updates and remodeling.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Always ask as much questions as possible before any work has began. Always ask the question which you might think you know the answer. This might not make sense to many people, but it is the only way to eliminate future problems and misunderstandings.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Almost everyone wants to know as much information about their remodel or repair as much as possible so they wont be lied to or end up feeling that they didn't get their moneys worth. This is why we educate every single customer about the work that will to be completed, so as the job progresses they have a better understanding of each stage and end up appreciating the end results more.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. 1. Does the individual carry any professional certification or license for the project which would make him or her the ideal candidate for the task.
2. Has the individual completed similar projects withing the 12 months and can they show proof of the finished project, such as pictures, website, invoices.
3. Is the individual willing to guarantee the completion of the job on time and on budget.
4. Is the individual willing to guarantee the completed work for a period of time.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. It is our understanding that by taking on one job at a time, we can accommodate a customer to their full needs. For the customer this translates to high quality work and excellent customer service. For us it means repeat customers and referential to other jobs.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Everyday it is a new challenge and at the end of that day there is a new feeling for accomplishment.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Many people would like to know if there is an alternative solution to their problem which might save them money.

We always end up giving two options for one project no matter what their budget is and we enplane the pros and const for each solution. Than we leave it up to the customer to make a choice.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. My favorite story is when we go in for a small repair we end up staying for other project and building a long term relation ship with our customers.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. The feeling of sense accomplishment can not be explained in words, but rather waking up every morning with please and going back to work.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. Grew up in a poor family where finding ways to make and build things was economically affordable. Now I am an architect students and love to construct.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. Recently I have taken on a project for a customer who was about to have a baby. The job originally was started by another worker who end up not doing what the owner asked him for and left the project half done. We had very sort time period to complete the project before the baby was born. The project was completed right the day that the lady went into labor.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. We are always on top of new construction techniques and tools. We are subscribed to several construction trade news papers and magazines such as the Construction State License Board news article, Handy man Magazine...

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. Computers and Technology has really helped construction field to grow. With all this advancements small construction companies like ours get accomplish more detailed work, keep track of project schedule, budget and finish work quicker, which ultimately translates to savings for the customer and greater profit margins for contractors.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. I am in the middle stages of my current project. It is a three bedroom complete 1950 house, located in Northridge California, which is being remodeled completely, Last week we finished an addition for a laundry room and completed changed the roof, including a new layer of plywood and a shingle roof. This week we are working inside on the demolition of walls, old popcorn ceiling and removal of the carpet for a new hard wood floor. Usually a complete remodeling project for a two bedroom including some plumbing, electrical, drywall, floors, kitchen and bath update with granite counter tops, paint and finishes, would cost around 20 to 40 thousand dollars and it would take about 4 to 8 weeks to complete.

A. Every job is different than the one before. There for there is no specific cost system.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. The sense of accomplishment that I get from completing a project can not be described in words, rather by waking up every morning and going to work with pleasure. Construction is not for everyone, whoever if you love construction, talking to people, waking up to a new challenge every morning and you are not afraid of criticism than construction is for you.

A. Everyday people ask me how do we decide which contractor to go with?
My answer is this, If he can look into your eves and answer your questions directly, if he is willing to work with your idea rather pushing the idea of what is convenient for him, if he is willing to educate you about the work that needs to be done so you can ask more questions, and after all this if you have a good vibe or a feeling about him than go for it.
