Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Our exterior work and interior work run about 50/50.
For many years we would do about 80% exterior work.
for the last 5 years we do a lot of interior work.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Look no further! If the project is done right, you got what you paid for!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I would be able to tell a painter from a real painter!
I'll have to think

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What does your local High Quality Paint Store say about the Professional Contractor your interviewing?

What do your cliennts say about the Quality and value of you Finished Projects, residential & comercial/

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. This is why you have me come over, meet the family, play with dogs, talk about life in the big city, complain about our Politicians and give you my suggestions on color & design.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Where perfectionist, we can't help ourselves.
When I started Painting Services Unlimited/The Los Angeles Painters some 32 years ago, I had already worked on some of the finest homes and offices for The William Morris Agency and Creative Artist (CAA). These clients demanded perfection and that fit my DNA.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. The final details, the finishing touches that make the project stand out! And, of course, the smiling faces of my clients. Their happy to write the check.

Testimonials are on our Website:

www.thelosangelespainters.com
www.theoxnardpainters.com

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How long does a paint job last, a typical question regarding their exterior: 6-8 years for the body and
4-5 years for the trim. Of course, if they practice preventative maintenance, every three years, the paint job will last longer.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I'll have to think about that one, in 33 years I have plenty of stories to keep you rolling in the aisle! I'll get back to you.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. It's harder then it looks. Just remember, what does the first four letters in the word painters spell? This is why you hire a Professional Painting Contractor/Designer/ Color Consultant.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I was a Volkswagen mechanic and service writer. I painted on the weekends with a buddy who is a painter, now in Oregon. The first day I picked up a brush, he said, your a natural and I liked it. I figured this way I'm not stuck in one place the rest of my life. I love meeting new people, very interesting.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. Well, we recently finished a complete restoration of a historical home Exterior & Interior. This house and it's owners wanted perfection. That's when it's really fun for us!

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I get all the trade magazines and I'm closely in touch with the Sherwin Williams Paint Company and get updates continually.
BTW Sherwin Williams Paints are the best, and I've tried them all.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. That's a funny question. The latest development is to make it through the depression our State is in.
Exciting would be, lots & lots of work like 4 years ago.
It's hard on people who might be upside down in their property, to think about spending more money, money they might need to pay the bills.
You know, clients call me and tell me that they think it's time to paint their house. I get there and their house needed work 5 years ago!

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. We typically do about 2-3 very large private homes a year. the last two years mostly smaller middle class homes. We also do from time to time, Hospital work and other other professional office buildings, downtown lofts, etc. Most recently we finished a Downtown Penthouse loft near the Staples Center. There was a lot of special finishes & staining work performed. The project took 15 days and cost $12,500. with materials & paint.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. Comparable Market Analysis. I go into my files, search for jobs close to the one I'm bidding, see how it worked out, and make adjustments for the cost of labor & materials today. Most good Contractors are bidding 20% lower then they would normally bid, because of the recession.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. This is not the time to pay your dues in this business.
Unless your a schlock artist, and there are thousands of guys out there, they pick up a paint brush and say,
"I'm a Painter" If you hire them, you got what you paid for!~

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. When my Father told me stuff, I didn't listen much.
How come he was so right about everything?
I hope my sons get that message.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. What does the first 4 letters in the word "PAINTING" spell?
"PAIN"
My clients are busy taking care of their families, their work and their lives. They don't need that PAIN of PAINTING! We take care of that for that for them!

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. Besides Professional Painting Services, do I provide other services?

Yes, I provide "FREE" color consultation & design based on my 33 years working with Designers, Decorators and Artists. Steve
