Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Remodel, kitchen, bath, decks, and ElderCare Remodeling, which is helping people stay in their house as they age. Folks, we are running out of space with all our Boomers ageing. Time for a new plan of action.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Always ask for a Certificate of Insurance and check the State Contractors website for updates and or complaints. Check social media sites and Google names to know who you are working with.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Inside secret..... well I am sure Gary wonders how I manage the business and I wonder how he can lift a Makita drill for so long at one time! We each have our strengths.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. We take care of all the details. A client just needs to describe what they want in change. We find the solutions, keep it simple. If people needed to do the leg work, they would never remodel or make changes. We have a team of professionals that help do this.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We have been in business for more than 25 years. Our combined experience as small business owners, yes two familky run businesses, give many years experience to help our clients. Gary is the carpenter extraordinaire and Amy has been in the financial service and Senior Care market for more than 27 years. We offer an in home assessment to identify how we can help our clients stay in their home as they age. We are not just the general contractor, but a qualified team that can help find solutions for people who ask.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. We love the creativity and the service to others that we can provide.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. What do you do? We help people stay in their home as they age. We look at all aspects of planning and design, whether this is in the future, or a person that has just come back home from a hospital stay.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. We have a client that had been in Skilled Nursing for four months and finally came home at Christmas last year. He had been so sick and was unable to get up the stairs in their house. We installed a chair lift to help him! I loved to see his smile when it was completed. We can make a difference in many people's lives. This is what we practice each day. How can I help you.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. We are honest people, work with integrity, always give the customer the benefit of the doubt (if there is any) and Amy is good at seeing into the future.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. We are just plain good at it. I suppose we were guided into helping others

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. That would be helping and mentoring younger builders and design people, to reach for their passion, identify it with clarity, and move forward in a very difficult economic time. Think outside the box.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Absolutely, Gary and Amy are both required to maintain our professional designations and licenses. Knowledge is a great thing and helps us to keep up in a very fast paced global economy.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. Green, Green, Green. It's great! As I stated before, many things will change in this field. People are becoming more in tune with the need for sustainability, green building, solar and financial needs planning. We are very excited to be a part of these changes in California.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. We have a few projects going on right now and for privacy reasons, would rather not discuss the costs, time and all the details. Each job is different, each requires many things, many changes and certainly, privacy for our clients.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. We don't have a complicated pricing process.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. I mentor many younger people. Gary and Amy combine their skills and knowledge is power. Be professional, be accurate, be kind and be on time.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. Are there any more questions? Not for now.
