Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Resetting, servicing and repairing locks on safes, homes and businesses.

Re-keying businesses following employee terminations.
Re-keying homes for new owners.

Opening safes, businesses or homes in the event of a lockout.

Upgrading and replacing locks on homes, businesses and safes.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Look at your lock or safe for brand name before calling locksmith and try to explain symptoms of malfunction or details of your needs to expedite and achieve a more accurate estimate. If it will help, feel free to email photos of the hardware or safe in question.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Many safe lockouts occur because the customer uses their safe infrequently. This can cause them to forget the numbers or proper sequence for dialing them. Your safe technician will provide you with a properly written set of directions. Keep those directions instead of re-writing them.

If you continue to have difficulty dialing a safe combination, consider asking your safe technician about replacing the dial type lock with a digital electronic safe lock.

Another cause of lockouts is lack of service. Cleaning and servicing by a qualified safe technician every couple of years can prevent a costly opening and repair.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Any legitimate locksmith company in the State of California will have a Locksmith License through the state Department of Consumer Affairs ( http://www2.dca.ca.gov/pls/wllpub/wllqryna$lcev2.startup?p_qte_code=LC&p_qte_pgm_code=2420 ). This Locksmith License number MUST BE POSTED at their place of business and on ALL advertising, including their website. If they don't have one, look for a company that does.
