Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. Boudoir photography has been the majority of my work because I started out shooting boudoir photo's back in New York over sixteen years ago. That was way before anyone ever heard of boudoir pictures. I opened my first professional boudoir studio after graduating with a degree in photography. Boudoir photography became my niche and I've had clients come from all over the county for my work. Since then I've moved to California and opened my boudoir photo studio in Huntington Beach in 1999. Now sixteen years later and literally thousands of boudoir photo shoots later I still specialize in boudoir photography. I believe my extended years of experience, working with all types of women, talent and creativity is what keeps me busier than ever. My clients still come from all over the country even though they can find an amateur boudoir photographer on ever corner these days. I am very greatful for every client that walks through my doors and travels far distances for my expertise.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. If i was a customer looking to have a boudoir photo session or any type of photo shoot done, I would want to know the secrets to a great photo shoot or portrait. One secret I would give is to make sure your wardrobe enhances the shot. Choose very wisely, try everything on and make sure your outfit compliments the outfit of others who may be in the photo with you. If your booking a boudoir session I have lots of tips for you but too many to mention. We send our clients a helpful hints and tips email, weeks before they arrive so they are well prepared. We do this because we want them to have the best photo's possible. One tip would be if your a plus size gal and booking a boudoir shoot, buy the large diamond fishnet pantyhose, "Not stockings". Their a big leg slimmer! You'll be glad you did!
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. As a consumer looking to hire a professional photographer I would want to know how much experience the professional has. Do they have references, testimonials, samples, awards for their work? A big question to ask now with digital photography and photo retouching so readily available is "Are all their photos retouched on their website". If so you will most likely need photo retouching to look like the subjects on their website. A good photographer knows how to light you and use their equipment to enhance your beauty. They don't have to rely on Photoshop to make you look like you had plastic surgery last night. You want to look like yourself but at your best and we use our makeup artists, lighting experts and photography tools to achieve that picture perfect look!
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Before booking your boudoir photo shoot my recommendation for you is to ask if the person photographing you is an actual artist and educated photographer or if your going to be photographed by a studio trained employee. If they don't understand how important professional lighting is and how extremely important posing women of all shapes and sizes is then you may not get what you expected. Boudoir photography is an art and you must be an artist, creative and experienced to get amazing photos every time. A great boudoir photographer knows how to pose every women for her best angles. I shoot each and every client as an individual. I don't see my boudoir clients as profit, I see them as a way to create art. I manipulate their heads, necks and bodies to create amazing lines and flattering figures. That's what an artist does. Anyone can go to a person with a camera. It's what you do with it that counts!
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Photography is my life and I love my job as a photographer who specializing in boudoir portraits. The diversity allows me express my creativity and artistic ability on a daily basis. I also love my job because every one of my clients whether they come in for boudoir, fine art, family portrait or headshot's (16 years) have been nothing short of wonderful! Their continued praise and expressed satisfaction of my photography work is very rewarding! Every boudoir testimonial, family portrait compliment or hug I receive makes the hard work all worth it! Great photography is not easy but when you get to work with wonderful people and fulfill their dreams it makes it all worthwhile.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. "All the photo's on your website are so great. Are the people on your website all models?"
No, The clients on our website are NOT models at all! We work very hard with each and every client to make sure they all look comfortable, relaxed and professional.
Whether your coming in for an intimate boudoir photo shoot or a business headshot we take the time to direct you into each pose so everyone looks like models! Our professional celebrity makeup artist's do an amazing job on your makeup too. Thats what makes all our clients look like models!
Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.
A. My most recent project was this week when I photographed a Mother and Daughter. It was a birthday gift for Dad she explained! She called on Monday in need of a gift within one week. On the phone we discussed wardrobe and I photographed them two days later. They both arrived in lavender dresses and looked classy and pretty! We met two days later (Friday) to view her photo's. She left with a beautiful 10 page black leather book in less then a week! We sat and chatted about her career and sushi after we viewed her photo's. She also ordered a 20x24 color print to have professionally framed for her home. Her session cost $199 and needless to say she was very pleased!
