Introduction: Piano is a hard instrument to learn. It can be very frustrating for the student at times. I understand this better than anyone since I have been through this same process myself. I make sure that I never forget the difficulties of learning to master this great instrument. This is what makes me different. I never lose sight of my own trials with the piano, which enables me to train my students in a more nurturing way. Patience is key! I have a great amount of patience. Encouragement! Most of all, my students need to feel encouraged even when they are having a bad Piano Day. Feeling as if one bad day doesn't equal failure but equals an opportunity to learn a lesson. It's an opportunity to grow. I want to know that every student leaves their lesson with their self-esteem intact. Feeling that they can accomplish the great task at hand. Learning to be the very best pianist they can be. The single most exciting thing about being a teacher is watching the progression of a student's learning. When you see the look in a student's eyes after they have passed a passage that they have struggled with for weeks, sometimes months, it makes what I do as a teacher so much more rewarding. Knowing that you had a hand in that moment is a great feeling, but even more exciting than that, is the fact that I love what I do. I am committed to my craft and my students. Piano, Dance and Tumbling is who I am as a person. It is what makes me Me. That gives me a huge advantage over many other teachers. I love what I do. I get to be with great people I can build long lasting relationships and friendships with. I get to share my passion for my craft with others in hopes that I help them build passion in what they are doing also. How many people get to say that they get to play all day with great people sharing what they love.

I was fortunate to work directly with Kay Co-Chairing an Elementary School Talent Show. She enthustically & wholeheartedly embraced the role of choreographer & director. Her love for her craft & for the children really showed through. She not only offered helpful suggestions to enhance every child's performance, she even pitch-hitted for a "no-show" child by performing with another child. It was remarkable. I was so proud to work with her. And I'm also a big fan. When it comes to performing, entertaining & putting on a great show, she is top notch!

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When looking for a Piano Teacher make sure the teacher has extreme patience. We sit with students all day listening to mistakes and the same music over and over again. A good teacher understands it's par for the course and doesn't let that affect their mood or personality while teaching. Piano doesn't have to be The Finger Olympics. Make sure that the teacher you choose pushes/challenges your child but doesn't push so hard that they begin to get frustrated with the instrument and want to quit before they have ever gotta a chance to really experience the true magic of learning to play the piano. Lastly, and most importantly! Make sure the teacher you choose encourages your child. Piano is a hard instrument. Young students need to feel as if they are accomplishing something with this instrument. They will have trying times with it. You need a teacher who knows how to handle this and can make the student feel good about what they are doing even when they are not doing so well. Enabling the student to learn from the experience and still enjoy what they are learning with a boosted self-esteem.
