Question and answer
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. When looking for a Piano Teacher make sure that the teacher has extreme patience. We sit with students all day listening to mistakes and the same music over and over again. A good teacher understands it's par for the course and doesn't let that affect their mood or personality while teaching. Piano doesn't have to be The Finger Olympics. Make sure that the teacher you choose pushes/challenges your child but doesn't push so hard that they begin to get frustrated with the instrument and wants to quit before they have ever gotta a chance to really experience the true magic of learning to play the piano. Lastly, and most importantly! Make sure the teacher you chose encourages your child. Piano is a hard instrument. Young students need to feel as if they are accomplishing something with this instrument. They will have trying times with it. You need a teacher who knows how to handle this and can make the student feel good about what they are doing even when they are not doing so well. Enabling the student to learn from the experience and still enjoy what they are learning with a boosted self esteem.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. Piano is a hard instrument to learn. It can be very frustrating for the student at times. We understand this better than anyone since we have been through this same process ourselves. We make sure that we never forget the difficulties of learning to master this great instrument. This is what makes us different. We never loose sight of our on trials with the piano which enables us to be train our students in a more nurturing way. Patience is key! We have a great amount of patience. Encouragement! Most of all our students need to feel encouraged even when they are having a bad Piano Day. Feeling as if one bad day doesn't equal failure but equals an opportunity to learn a lesson. It's an opportunity to grow. We want to know that every student leaves their lesson with their self esteem intact. Feeling that they can accomplish the great task at hand. Learning to be the very best pianist they can be.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. The single most exciting thing about being a teacher is watching the progression of a students learning. When you see the look in a students eyes after they have passed a passage that they have struggled with for weeks, sometimes months. It makes what we do as teachers so much more rewarding. Knowing that you had a hand in that moment is a great feeling. But even more exciting than that is the fact that we all love what we do here at Dancing Shadow Conservatory. We are committed to our craft. Committed to our students and committed to each other. Piano, Dance and Tumbling is who we are as people. It is what makes us Us. That gives us a huge advantage over many other teachers. We love what we do. We get to be with great people that we build long lasting relationships and friendships with. We get to share our passion for our craft with others in hopes that we help them build passion in what they are doing also. How many people get to say that they get to play all day with great people sharing what we love.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Most commonly asked question! How young do you teach? The youngest we have ever taught is 2 1/2. Children under 5 years old are very capable of learning the piano. They have to be handled differently but they are more than capable of handling the instrument. We require 3 15 minute a week lessons. The student needs more face time at this age to retain what they have been taught. This method teaches the young student discipline. They learn early on what it takes to learn to play the piano. It is taught to them on an age appropriate level helping the student to love what they are learning and not overwhelming them with to much to soon.
