Encore Video Services has been owned and operated by David Nathenson since its inception in 1984. Dave is an award-winning videographer with a reputation for artistic excellence in all productions, large and small.

It's true. Back in 1984, Encore Video Services started out as a small operation whose main genre was wedding and bar/bat mitzvah events. But news of Dave's talents spread, and Encore Video Services quickly became the highest-ranking video services company in Orange County, California.

Over time, Dave's experience has grown along with his network of video production professionals. Today, Encore Video's main focus is serving the business community. From documentary-style informational productions to live events, Dave's talents continue to shine through.

Encore uses broadcast quality cameras and editing equipment with skilled use of telephoto lenses, special filters and lights to create beautiful pictures in natural color.

True-to-life sound is captured with broadcast quality wireless microphones on four channels of audio. The microphones are close to the action and the music. We believe a great picture deserves great sound.

Encore videographers are discreet, experienced and well dressed. Our editors are adept in the use of music, special effects and computer graphics to create a memorable production.

A. How much does it cost? How much do you have to spend?

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I was doing a commercial for a jewelry store and a grip set a hot light on a glass display case and it shattered. I was the soundman on the film, "El Dorado" and when I was putting on a wireless lavalier on Darryl Hannah she asked if I had a white microphone cord and I said no (she was wearing all white). I clipped the black microphone to her bra and covered it with white tape. Then she asked if I could put the transmitter in her boot and I told her that usually people clip it on their belt like a beeper. She asked how long I had been doing this and I told her I videotaped my first wedding in 1984. So I was exposed as really being a wedding videographer.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. That they can shoot video with their cell phones and can call me when it doesn't turn out as well as planned.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I have always been a movie buff.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. Life of Simon is a biography that I gave to my father. He has since passed and I relish having it as a keepsake.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Every time there is a new release of Adobe Creative suite I upgrade and learn new tricks of the trade.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. There has been a paradigm shift in this business. When I started in the 1980's very few people owned video equipment. It cost a bare minimum of $15,000 to do very basic editing. Now you can shoot, edit and upload video with your phone.
