working on finding ways to get our beautiful yoga school on the map! celebrating twelve years training teachers!
Cloud Nine Yoga is now on thumbtack.com!
First and foremost, we are a yoga school. Since 1999, Cloud Nine Yoga has developed and perfected an in-depth yoga study course (Basic 200-hour Yoga Teaching Certification) and a 500-hour Master Yoga Teacher Training Program.
Our teachers take pride in bringing the practice down-to-earth. Our Anatomy of Yoga series (included in each program) is a specialized track unto its own. This circle of knowledge, where each student is respected and supported, offers a holistic and non-dogmatic system of learning.
We teach the ‘fun kind’ of yoga -- the one where people laugh, learn, integrate, and grow. The majority of our yoga school branches are located on the west coast of the United States.
Secondly, we are a network of yoga instructors who have come together to practice, teach, and guide our communities to bring healing, relaxation, and earth stewardship into the world. We maintain that once we find our way "home" (back to our true nature or essence), then it becomes easier to let that soulful energy direct all interactions.
We aspire to be authentic, peaceful, and kind. We offer support when we meet challenges in walking the conscious path. We strive to find bliss, joy, and meaning in all we do.
Finally, we are a co-op. We form cooperative yoga studios in Southern California and beyond -- all teacher-owned and operated. Look for the Cloud 9 Yoga name, and you will know you have found one of our eclectic, yet warm yoga spaces.
Our studios focus on enticing the soul of every living being to awaken and act from their supreme nature with gratitude and play. We compassionately and blissfully empower ready beings to open their heart/mind to experience their full potential through various types of ancient yogic systems.
We teach hatha yoga, yin yoga, kundalini yoga, vinyasa flow, and prenatal yoga, along with yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, Thai yoga massage, Reiki, and art meditation.

Erika Calig is simply the best yoga trainer around. She not only teaches asana, but how to actually be a yogi---mind, body and spirit. Her instructors all have the same light and love that she emulates and shares with her students. Cloud Nine Yoga is a wonderful place to learn yoga, and also get training to teach yoga.

Erika rocks. Her powerful and compassionate demeanor extends beyond herself into her family and beyond into her yoga family and community. Cloud Nine is an oasis of groundedness in this desert paradise.

A. We train yoga teachers, which is our specialty. We also assist people who are unable to go to a yoga studio for lessons. As providers of private lessons and corporate yoga classes, we are able to give individual attention based on client's specific needs. Our teachers are able to modify classes for multi-level students. We are familiar with Yoga in all types of styles: Yin, Meditative, Kundalini, Flow, Hot and Power. Our program can be customized for one - twenty five (or more) students.
A. A Yoga School must hold a Certificate of Registration with the Yoga Alliance that is up-to-date. This demonstrates that the Yoga School has met the minimum established requirements to train yoga instructors. This National Registry for Yoga Schools and Teachers is run by yoga teachers, for yoga teachers.
Cloud Nine Yoga has been established with the Yoga Alliance since 2002. We meet and exceed the standards of education outlined by the Yoga Alliance at both the 200 & 500 levels of registration.
Graduates of a yoga teacher training program must register with the Yoga Alliance after receiving their certificate from a Registered Yoga School (RYS). Registration with Yoga Alliance and Certification from Cloud Nine Yoga gives you a level of accreditation and provides employers and clients with assurance that your yoga education is of the highest quality.
A. We have found that it is more important to find a teacher, studio and/or training program where you feel at home and supported by the community than to base a decision on the "name" alone. Many big corporate studios have lost the heart and soul that yoga is all about.
There is a yoga teacher and studio out there for every type of student and their particular needs. We encourage customers to seek out and experiment with several different teachers and studios before they find their "home base". Don't get discouraged if you do not resonate with one teacher or studio's energy. There is always a perfect class out there waiting for you to find!
A. Questions for a potential yoga teacher training school:
How many hours in the program are in contact with the senior yoga trainers? (make sure this number is way over 100 hours)
Are my practice classes at the studio included in the cost of the program? (most the time, this is a perk!)
Does the course require homework and/or an internship? (you better believe you need to read, journal and take what you learn into a classroom environment -- Cloud Nine Yoga will assign you a mentor teacher who will oversee your internship and coach you all along the way!)
Will my training group be required to take a Yoga Retreat for final certification? (Yoga retreats are not only tons of fun, but are part of the deeper experience of BE-ing yoga. A great retreat will take you in nature where you will practice yoga all day long and immerse yourself in a space of peaceful reflection.)
Why are these questions important? A well-rounded yoga course will include various ways of learning, including in-class practices and lectures, intensives, retreats, homework, tests, practice teaching and internships. If the school is not offering these valuable tools with your education, you probably want to reconsider getting your yoga training with them.
