Andrew greeted us outside his house and swiftly invited us in. We almost immediately got started with recording. He has a wide variety of instruments ranging from guitars to bongos to an organ. We ran through each song smoothly m and the vocals were easy to record.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. The best advice I can give is to come into your session AS PREPARED AS POSSIBLE!!! Too often people don't put in the work needed ahead of time to make the most out of their studio time - the more you work on your material beforehand, the better the performance you will be able to give while you are recording. The studio is not the place to be figuring things out with your song arrangements, lyrics, solos, and whatever else - if you come in knowing EXACTLY what you are going to do, chances are you will do a much better job at it (and also not have to spend so much valuable time/money!!). BE PREPARED!!!

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I'm an advocate for the quality of the work that goes through my studio. I feel that a lot of studio owners are more interested in making sure that they get the job done quickly, I'm much more interested in making sure that the task at hand is completed with the BEST QUALITY possible. I am upfront and honest, I believe that this is one of the best ways to ensure that this goal is met. I feel that my clients appreciate me for this along with my extensive knowledge in the field of music production.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I get to work with a wide variety of people from all types of personal and artistic backgrounds, in the line of work that I love.

My job affords me the opportunity to solve problems creatively, and to meet and help people that often share the same musical interests that I have.

Q. What is your greatest strength?

A. I consider myself to be able to quickly and accurately "tune in" to my clients music and their individual needs. I graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor's degree in Music Composition, and have had years of experience involved in music production (I'm currently obtaining an Associates degree in Recording Arts & Technology). I've spent all my life occupied with music, playing and listening to a wide variety of styles and artists. I am able to communicate on many different levels (both artistic and technical) with my clients, and thus am able to help them better achieve their goals.

Q. What are you currently working on improving?

A. Aside from going back to school to earn an Associates degree in Recording Arts & Technology, I have also been spending a lot of time improving the acoustics of my studio. I recently built several broadband absorption panels, a couple quadratic residue skyline diffusors, and a poly-cylindrical diffusor panel. I have mounted a few of the absorber panels in strategic areas throughout the studio, and have been pleased with the results so far. I am able to move the other panels and diffusors around as needed, depending on the session at hand. I have also been making some significant gear purchases, including a Neumann M 149 LDC tube condenser and a pair of Lauten Audio Torch SDC tube condensers.
