Question and answer
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Make sure to always check their place of business. Get one or two referrals. And never, ever hire the person who says "I have the best price." This is a fool's mentality, one in which they want you to participate in. Good service costs money, & so does education & technical know-how, so always hire experience, which knowledgeable people understand means 'less time on the job'.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. We have always published on our website tips on how to avoid costly repairs - but here are a few now: Always grill with the hood open on the "High" setting; never 'burn off' a high-heat grill; and lastly, never use the electronic ignition while the grill is on. These three little tips will save you real dollars in repairs!
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Unfortunately, because of the Internet, even the worst repair people can come across looking like the best... they'll have no store and usually, only an online presence... So, get referrals, go to their location and ask questions, and ask neighbors who they've used in the past. We believe in referrals, so try friends and family FIRST before hiring anybody.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. For repair & service (maintenance), not much is required of our customers except for them to be having difficulty with their appliance; that's all it takes before we get a phone call. But for installation jobs, such as bbq islands & mounted (fixed location) patio heaters, a customer should have a good idea where the patio heater is going prior to us bidding the installation. Fire fireplaces, the same is true; if the customer has an idea of where the product is going, then this helps us do our job better by providing a realistic quote for exactly their perceived outcome.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. At Pride Piper, our work has stood out since the late 1970's for one reason; it was done right, & it was done right the first time. We have two full-time technicians that can service & repair products in the Coachella Valley, & unlike some independents or newly-formed businesses, expertise has A LOT to do with what the customer receives in regard to quality of work & the time it takes for that work to get done. We perform work for restaurants, country clubs & property management companies for one reason; we do ethical work & do it correctly. This is the only reason that people continue to hire us.
