Introduction: Instead of having set menus, I like to talk with the client about what items might make the event special for him/her. If the guest of honor has any favorite dishes, I like to incorporate that. If a couple has special memories tied to a dish, I'd want to include that in the menu as well.
I love meeting new people and teaching them a new skill. But just as much, I love introducing people to new foods, or turning someone on to something they thought they didn't like.

I've had the pleasure of attending many of Melissa's events, including parties she has hosted/catered, as well as cooking demonstrations.
At her parties, her food is freshly prepared and beautifully presented. Her culinary talents span a wide range, from simple salad dressing, to comforting shrimp and grits, to roasted lamb, all paired with the perfect wine selections.
Her cooking demonstrations are fun, interactive, and most of all, informative about both wine and food and how they work together. No matter your level of cooking expertise, Melissa can show you something you didn't know before. Plus she uses fresh and quality ingredients, which she will teach you how to choose if you aren't sure.

Melissa helped me to make my husband's birthday party a hit. We did a sit-down dinner for twelve, and although I like to cook, I am overwhelmed with work and thought bringing in a professional would really make the experience more delicious and less stressful. Melissa kept me informed every step of the way, through menu planning and preparation to the days before and on the day of, she pulled it off and made it look easy (although I saw her and her staff work very hard). The food was phenomenal and beautifully presented, also perfect portioned. The wines were great and Melissa explained why each wine was paired with each particular course. She is a great hostess and can get a long with all types of people from shy to outgoing. Our guests were delighted with the food, the wine, and the experience of having a polished pro like Melissa to make everything lovely. Best of all, I wasn't a stress ball and everyone had a relaxing, enjoyable experience. I will certainly use Gettin' Saucy In The Kitchen again!

This was my first formal cooking class, Iâm glad I chose the right person to help me brush up my skills. Melissa was very professional, informative and flexible. She definitely showed me new things I thought I was familiar with. She asked about specific recipes that my husband and I like or dislike. She offered some recipes as well. The food was delicious! She even gave wine pairing suggestions. I would definitely recommend Melissa! I will certainly be returning and would love to bring some friends along.
