Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. When hiring a process server in Irvine or Orange County California make sure they are registered and bonded in Orange County and located within the County. Many process servers advertise that they serve Orange County yet their offices are located in another County. The closer a process server is to the location you need your papers served, the better.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Information is the key to getting a legal document served properly and in a timely manner. The more information a process server has about a defendant, the better. That would include: home and business addresses, hours at work, profession the defendant is engaged in, all available phone numbers, names of roommates or boss, email addresses used by defendant, hours they are usually home, etc.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. When hiring a process server in California you should ask the following questions:

1) Are they Bonded & Registered California process servers (never use a process server that is not, including private investigators that are not registered).

2) How far is the process server from the address you need served.

3) Is their rate a flat rate or are there other fees that might be incurred.

4) How many attempts will they make at serving the defendant for the fee quoted.

5) How long have they been serving court papers.

6) Once service has been completed are they going to file the proof of service with the court or return it to you.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Before sending your legal documents to a process server you should take some simple steps to make sure the information you will be providing the process server is correct. If you're serving a corporation check with the Secretary of State to make sure you have the corporation named properly and that you have the right address and name for the corporation's agent for service of process. This can be done online in California and most other States. If you are serving an individual you can check online to make sure the address you have does exist and if you have a business address you can call to verify the address and their hours of operation.
