The Legend

I make sure to treat each student as an individual and attend to their needs. What they want to get out of the lesson is more important than any agenda I may have for them. My goal is to guide them along their desired path according to my knowledge and experience as best I can. Getting paid to play guitar! Okay, well, to teach it. I love being able to imbue a sense of excitement and enthusiasm for something I'm so passionate about in a student, especially if he or she is younger and it can really take root and shape them. I love seeing them get interested in music that I like that I think they will too and especially learning to play some of it! But whether or not I enjoy the music they want to learn, it brings me the most joy to see them learning what they love and being able to show it off. That's the whole point of the lessons. And it's a bonus if they progress sufficiently to write their own material. I would feel such a sense of pride if one of my students went on to be a successful songwriter and I could say I played a part in their development.
