FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration and a M.S. in Justice & Security Studies. I routinely attend classes, am a member of several professional organizations. I routinely research current litigation and new laws that affect the way we operate, in order to stay current and in line with California state and Federal guidelines.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
After fourteen years in the Marine Corps followed by three years in Afghanistan doing private contract work, I decided that I was losing too much time with my family. I thought briefly of becoming law enforcement, but at my age I really felt the need to build something that was mine, without the oversight of others and dictate how I would operate. My experiences are unique amongst my professional peer group, and my work philosophy and drive for results sets a new par on an old profession. The minimum standard is not good enough.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Thumbtack is a great site for linking up with qualified individuals to do your work, but remember there is NO standard checks. When you're looking for a company to provide you Security Guards or a Private Investigator, make sure each person you hire is not only qualified but also licensed through the state of California. If you hire an individual without checking that licensing, you assume a huge amount of liability, and it is against the law: BSIS Private Investigator -- PI # 28681 BSIS Private Patrol Operator -- PPO # 17775 BSIS FQ Open Carry -- FQ # 356110 BSIS Guard/Patrol -- G # 1857811 Validate through the Bureau of Security & Investigative Services.
