Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Try to find a teacher that will fit with your goals and is easily accessible for scheduling and location. Be sure to have a instrument to practice on. A teacher should be able to provide you with music appropriate for your skill level and be able to encourage you with the kind of music you want to play.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Regularly scheduled lessons are important to create good habits and keep accountability for each student to continue to practice and improve. Often you can find free pianos on craigslist because many people don't have room for a piano in there home if they are not piano players. Many times the more children signed up for lessons can result in some kind of a discount.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Where are you located? What are your rates? How long have you been doing this? What education do you have in this subject? Do you have students that have gone on to a higher level of this service? Do I have to pay if I have to cancel a lesson? Do I have to have a piano or will a keboard work? Do you travel to students home? Are there extra charges for supplies?
