Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Get healthy, physically and mentally! I am an ACE-certified personal trainer. Let's have some fun getting your body stronger, healthier, toned, and ready for a new life! I am not a drill sergeant, but I will help you challenge yourself, build your confidence, and give you the tools to succeed! I am a part-time personal trainer and fitness instructor and a full time mommy. I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients with a range of fitness goals (weight loss, nutrition, sports performance, injury rehab, Parkinson's patients, and prenatal/postpartum fitness), and I have watched each of them succeed. Along with personal training, I teach fit camps and circuit training classes in the Long Beach area. I take a fun approach to fitness, yet, I challenge each person based on where they are individually - there is no one-size-fits-all program. People leave their sessions feeling accomplished with a smile on their face and it gives me all the satisfaction in the world! I was chosen to be one of the off-camera trainers for the ABC reality series "The Revolution" (starred Ty Pennington, Tim Gunn and Harley Pasternak), and my clients were among the most successful participants, to date. Testimonials: "I have been training with Tamara for over a year now and she has been the key component to me getting serious about improving my health and obtaining my personal goals. I've lost about 20 pounds and many inches from my waist. I'm enjoying life a lot more these days. Without my Tamara, I never would have done it!" - Meredith Brown "My sister and I have been training with Tamara since September 2011. To date, I've lost 67 pounds and my sister has lost 70. Tamara makes difficult work outs fun and entertaining. Every week she engages different muscles that targets a different area of our body. What we love the most about Tamara is her passion for fitness. She not only makes us do the moves but she educates us on why we are doing certain moves. We can't thank Tamara enough for changing our perspectives about working out and changing our bodies! We love you Tamara" - The Harris Sisters (Jamilla and Cherrell) Bellflower, CA Pricing: - Ten (10) 60-minute sessions - $650 (single session is $70) - Ten (10) 45-minute sessions - $495 (single session is $55)

Tamara Kunkle has been my personal trainer for the past five months. I’m thrilled with the results she’s helped me achieve, unlike my experiences with past personal trainers who either failed to motivate me or caused me to suffer an injury. Before we started my program, she interviewed me extensively and ran me though some diagnostic tests. During that interview, and in every discussion we’ve had since, she listened to me attentively. She encouraged me to set goals and we collaborated to develop a reasonable time period over which to attain them. She believed that my past training injuries were due to a weak back, and that it’d be best to strengthen it before undergoing rigorous training. It worked. I’ve been injury-free and I’ve never felt better and happier about myself. Tamara gives me her undivided attention when she works with me. She’s present during every repetition of every exercise she’s given me to do. She leads me through precise, thorough exercises that have toned and firmed my muscles, increased my stamina and improved my health. Attaining results keeps me excited and encourages me to continue training with her. I really look forward to the days that I work out with her. She’s been present during every repetition of every exercise she’s led me through over the past five months. Unlike the past, boredom has never been an issue because she not only varies my workouts but she varies the work out location, too. Sometimes we work at the gym; other times, we work out in the park or in the streets around the Fit Stop gym. Though very challenging, her work outs are always fun, too. Tamara impresses me with her vast knowledge of health, i.e., its physical, dietary and emotional aspects. She imparts this knowledge in an upbeat, encouraging manner and she is one of the most positive people I know. Although her work outs are extremely challenging, I’ve remained injury-free. Tamara is firm in encouraging me to work out harder than I think I’m able which truly brings out the best in me. She is also one of the sweetest, kindest and most caring individuals I know. I’d whole-heartedly endorse her to others.

Tamara is a personable professional. She is knowledgeable and organized and pushes me to new places. She checks that I am doing the exercises correctly and ALWAYS checks for problems or pain. I see her three times a week. I have Parkinson’s Disease; each day is different. She is flexible and adjusts to my condition. My neurologist recently evaluated me, and I tested “better” than 3 months ago. He told me 90% of his clients could not do “squats”. I’m happy and excited to work with Tamara. I know she is on my team to be the best I can be physically.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Yes. Not only are we required to take continuing education courses, but as fitness professionals, we should constantly seek to improve our skills, broaden our knowledge, and research as much as time permits.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When looking for a personal trainer, you should look for a professional who is interested in helping you reach your goals and keep you safe. At the initial consultation (which should discuss your goals, eating habits, health history) ask questions to be sure he/she is a good fit for you. The interview goes both ways. :)
