A. I mostly performance faires and festivals. These are everything from County Faires to renaissance faires. But I also perform everywhere from Schools and Libraries to Corporate events and the film industry. Though even then it can really vary, the ype of client and occasion I am engaged to perform at. That way I can adjust my work to suit many situations and requirements
A. Always be sure to look up other performers that maybe in the genre of performance you require. ie Juggler, comic, comedian etc. It is most important that the client AND the performer are confident they are the fit for the gig
A. It would be nice to be able to see the performer in action. The best way to do this is to ask the performer if they have some kind of video. But also to remember the performer can likely tweak his performance to fit your exact requirements. Audience, venue etc.
A. How long have they been performing. Who have they performed for. Do they have a good understanding of the nature of this event in question. Are they confident they are the right performer for the gig.
A. I am completely original and bring a down under/British Empire International quality to my work. I am both drama and circus school trained. I have performed on four continents in three different languages. Therefore with all my experience in a range of performance genres I can adjust my performance to an audiences changing moods. I can also provide a range of acts and characters to suit any occasions.
A. Meeting the range of people that one does from one gig to the next. Walking into an unknown performance situation and having to win them over instantly. Being able to have a laugh with a group of people that want to do the same, being the catalyst for that.
A. I have bascially been performing all my life. A piano showed up on the door step when I was five. Later came speech and drama lessons then lots of amateur theatre. In my early 20s, I met another guy who was keen to start a performance business. It was strength in numbers. We went out and made mistakes. But learnt. It built from there. People would ask us to do all kinds of things from festivals to performing telegrams. I then moved to our biggest city in New Zealand, went to drama school to put some theory behind the practical experience I already had.
A. My most recent performance was for a community event that was organised by a local library to promote literacy and reading issues. I was booked at the event for five hours. I presented a different character within each hour. This keeps it interesting for the audience. I presented three different stilt characters and some "grounded" character work as well. It was all about making the event unique and spontaneous and that is what my work aims to do.
A. I do have a pricing system, but it very much depends on what I am doing, the nature of the performance to be delivered, for how long, where the event is, how many people, the nature of the event, is it to involce multiple characters. It is a show only, or a show and roving. I do have some basic hourly fees, but for the most I will fit and budget and I am more than happy to discuss that with the client.
