Tall Cans Productions is a Southern California based, entertainment production company offering high-end, JBL live sound reinforcement, event production, stage, lighting, power, PA rental, DJ gear and performers to ensure that your event is a complete success.

We specialize in events featuring headlining bands and DJ's, where our state-of-the-art sound, stage, lighting and display options invigorate the crowd. We offer production for all event sizes. We have recently helped produce shows featuring: LMFAO, Laidback Luke, Steve Aoki, Harvard Bass and many tribute cover bands.

All of our gear is new, JBL professional, attractive and top-of-the-line! Plus, we have years of experience to help you achieve your desired look, sound and feel for a competitive price. We feature either Mackie analog or digital front of house mixes using the Presonus Studio Live 24.4.2 and can even record each individual channel of your set for future DAW mixdown.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. I suggest that you first talk to your event productions company on the phone and see if they are willing to do a free consultation and venue walk through in advance.

Also, ensure that they have current professional gear through pictures on their website. Make sure it all matches and looks good. Speakers are built in components and are tuned to work best with the other speakers in the same product line. Try to avoid sound companies with mis-matched speakers from different brands and product lines.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. The best sound is achieved by a little known secret outside of the professional sound reinforcement industry. It is known as "bi-amping" or "tri-amping". This is where you amplify only the range of sounds that each particular speaker is designed to play and eliminate wasted watts on tones the speaker is not designed to play. Only bass tones go to subwoofers, mid tones to the midrange drivers and high tones to the horns.

Each speaker driver has their own amp channel, which focuses all available energy from the amplifier to the range of sounds that a specific speaker can reproduce.

This technique is very costly for the sound reinforcement company, as it requires high end speakers, additional amplifiers, extra cables and digital sound processing equipment, however the crystal clear sound achieved is resoundingly better than the cheaper passive mode.

Bi-amping and tri-amping is the standard from Tall Cans Productions and is included at no extra charge. Its just one of the many ways we go above and beyond to provide the best service possible to our clients.

A. A. Live sound reinforcement and DJ'ing are a passion for all associates of Tall Cans Productions. We love what we do and our passion drives us to raise the bar for our clients.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. We recently provided our services at below cost for the Los Angleles Crohn's and Colitis foundation's Take Steps charity fundraiser event.
We provided a large PA for up to 2,000 people, a stage, generator power, monitors, mics and front of house mix. We volunteered our time for a wonderful cause to find a cure.

We are more than happy to help with charity fundraisers.
