A. Look for a provider who has an exceptional relationship with the college or who has an exclusive agreement. Hire a company who doesn't charge extra for shipping. Some companies will charge handling fee or extra amount on top of shipping rates.

A. The shipping process and rates are a mystery to most consumers. What most people don't know is how shipping rates are calculated by the carriers. Shipping carriers such as FedEx, UPS, DHL and the U.S. Post Office are based on 7 factors and "ancillary" fees. So here's what you need to know when shipping.
Are you ready? Here goes! The seven factors are: box dimensions; weight; zip code; delivery type (residential/commercial); declared value; delivery time; and if the delivery destination is rural or non-rural. These 7 factors determine your shipping "rate". Other costs (ancillary fees) come if you want a Saturday delivery or a signature when its delivered.
While most packages arrive on time and in good condition there is one thing you should ask when shipping a package. What happens if my package is lost or damaged? Or what's the process for getting reimbursed for my package?
Most people don't know it but when a carrier pays you for a damaged or lost package they have ownership rights. It's kinda like car insurance. If your car is totaled in an accident the insurance company takes the car and pays you.
If a package you ship or receive is damaged don't throw away the box or contents. Carriers like to do "investigations" on claims and they want to see the damage to the package and contents. If you throw away the packaging or contents prior to an investigation and after the carrier has approved the claim you run the risk of a carrier not paying you for a claim.
Beaware of the details when shipping. Ask questions if you don't understand the process.
Did you know? If you ship a package and it arrives late you may be entitled to a refund? Some retail shipping centers don't tell you this but they track your packages. When packages don't arrive on time they submit a request for a refund to the carrier and keep your money! Most carriers don't guarantee Ground deliveries during Christmas due to the massive amount of packages they're handling.
While some retail shipping centers will mark-up their rates we don't. Some centers don't assist with the claims, we will. Give us a call to assist with your college shipping. We know the process!
