FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For legal document preparation, most projects are done on a flat fee basis, quoted up front based on information provided by prospective clients. For notary public services at my office, the fee is $15 per signature notarized. For mobile notary services, there is an additional travel fee in addition to the per signature price.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an Associate of Arts degree in Paralegal Studies from Cerritos College, an American Bar Association approved paralegal program. I graduated with highest honors. In order to remain registered as a Legal Document Assistant, as well as to remain a member in good standing of CALDA (the "California Association of Legal Document Assistants"), I am required to adhere to a Code of Ethics and to complete 15 hours of MCLE (or "Mandatory Continuing Legal Education) every two years. To renew my notary license, I have to have a renewal class every four years.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
In California, non-attorneys may only provide legal document preparation services if registered and bonded as a Legal Document Assistant in any county in which that person is doing business. "Paralegals" may NOT advertise or directly work with the public...be wary of anyone who offers services to the public as a "paralegal". Please see California Business and Professions Code Sections 6400 - 6415 for more information about Legal Document Assistant, and Sections 6450 - 6456 for more information on paralegals.
