- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we meet with the client to listen to their entertainment needs. If possible we would like to visit the venue to know what equipment will be necessary for the event. The client will begin a playlist of songs that they expect to hear as well as songs that should not be played. An invoice will be presented specifying all the equipment that will be used, personnel hired, time and location of services and price. A deposit will be collected when determined. The remainder of the balance will be collected after services have been completed.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied recording arts at the Dick Grove school of music in 1988. I was a sound man for the Original King King on 6th and La Brea from 1989-1992. I was a club promoter from 1992-1994 in the Hollywood area.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Your event takes plenty of time and money to coordinate. Please make sure that when you hire a DJ, you have a contract specifying service times, and all equipment to be used. This is very useful in case a DJ is late, cancels the last minute or if the equipment used is less than what you anticipated.
