When I brought home Chewy, a stray dog found in Long Beach. I noticed he had some serious issues and wanted to find someone to help me get to know him, train him and help him understand he was in a safe loving new home. Monika of Animals At Home went above and beyond helping me establish this with Chewy. He went from being a scared, spastic guarded dog to a lovable ball of energy! Animals At Home ROCKS! THANK YOU!

I have a cat that has been scratching and biting me since day one. All I have to do is walk by. But at the same time she can be sweet and loving. I do not believe in giving animals back when they do not behave the way we want, so I contacted Monika. Within a few weeks Sushi has stopped biting and scratching me. Although not the lap cat I wanted she is a true joy and I am so grateful to Monika!!!!

I have a dog named Leo. He is a beagle chiwawa mix. Shy and stubborn. With the help of Monika he is obediant still a little shy but that's his personailty. He is now potty trained, does not chew anymore and understands and adheres to the commands that she has set in place for him. She not only trains the animals but she bonds with them as well. This was very important to me because Leo can be difficult. I think that she is truly a Jewel and has been as blessing to Leo and I.

The service offered by Animals At Home is superb. The owner, Monika Magness, is currently taking care of my dog and I couldn't be happier with how much effort and great service she gives my dog.

On a scale of 1 to 10, Animals At Home is an 11.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Potty training, socialization, barking and leash training. Basic obedience. House manners! Expert in escape artists & jumpers!!

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Find a trainer both you and your pet are comfortable with and you find easy to comprehend and can create a schedule that fits into your lifestyle.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. The excitement in the animals and their owners when a lesson is performed correctly and progress is obvious! Dogs especially like to please us and hearing "good dog!" makes both your best friend and entire family happily walk hand in paw together

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How many sessions does it usually take to train my pet? The number of sessions depends on your dedication to training your pet. 1-3 is usually sufficent.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I have come across many pet owners who get discouraged with their pet training and want to give up their pet. I show them simple non time consuming ways to correct behavior issues resulting in happy owners keeping their pets and working with them instead of giving up. It is VERY rewarding knowing that you trained your own dog to become a happy well behaved pet!

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. To be around as many pets as possible to help you "read" them better. Be calm & patient. Observe other trainers techniques, try them and see what works for you & develop your own technique.
