Introduction: I am a full-time professional musician, playing in a jazz band that performs weddings, corporate parties and in hotels. I have been playing the drums for 24 years (most of my life), and I have several years teaching lessons. I teach the basics of music theory, rock and roll beats, and the fundamentals of playing music in today's landscape.

I took drum lessons with Dan Thomas for a few months in SLC, and they were a blast! He was a great teacher in explaining beats and rhythms and also guiding me towards other styles that helped expand my perspective of music. I've become a much better drummer and now feel comfortable playing many different styles such as: rock, hip-hop, country, bossa nova and reggae.

Talent, feel, and skills are rarely combined with the ability to teach. Fundamentals, advanced techniques, exotic rhythms and just plain rocking out, Dan makes learning fun!

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I have experience teaching children as young as 6 years old and adults as old as 60. I've done lots of private lessons and I used to teach at the Paul Green School of Rock, where I taught large groups of students how to play rock music and prepared them for live performance.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The best way to judge the character and personality of a music teacher is a simple phone conversation. A phone call can tell you a lot about the general demeanor of a person. Ask them about their experience and qualifications. People reveal much more when talking about themselves.
