I started working with Dan Smith in a small gym on Manhattan in 2012. In two years I transitioned from an overweight 190 lb. 50 year old out of shape “lost cause” to a 155 lb. very athletic man, who runs an 8 min mile, looks forward to the beach season, never gets sick and can maintain his condition in spite of the intense business travel. Dan achieved this with infinite patience through a system of small gradual improvements without a single pulled muscle or even minor trauma. There are many good trainers in New York that can help you lose weight and get in shape quickly but I think that Dan is exceptional in that his system is sustainable over a long time without excessive stress on the body. By combining yoga, aerobics and weights in just the right proportion Dan taught me how to take control of my physical fitness by breaking the process into simple basic movements that are nevertheless subtle and can be improved infinitely. Combine this with a great, quiet but persistent personality and you have a perfect trainer for an individual with serious fitness goals looking for excellence, rather than just good.

I've been working out with trainers for 5 years, and Dan is the best I've ever had. He transformed my body, making me lean, strong and helping me lose 17 lbs and go from a size 8 to a size 4. His workouts make you feel energized, strong and beautiful and his program will get you results quicker than you think, if you actually do as he tells you :)

I have trained with Daniel for 4 years every week twice a week. Daniel succeeded repetitively in personalizing my training to make it chalenging yet competitive and constructive to my set very demanding fitness goals. I will highly recommand him.

Daniel was very instrumental in helping me gain strength and flexibility. I have had some lower back issues that sometimes made it difficult to exercise. Daniel worked with me to get through those periods and ultimately gain strength, flexibility and awareness about my body. He taught me how to exercise for my body and how to push myself. He moved away from New York but I continue to see him when I travel to Los Angeles for business. He's the best!
