About Vienna Woods Inc.

hired 1 time on Thumbtack

We are custom-furniture makers, furniture designers and restoration specialists.

We can make any kind of furniture -regardless of size or style- to our customers' specifications and blue prints, or simply design furniture for them with all the necessary drawings and make it, including upholstery and finishing under one roof. We also provide antique furniture restoration services, refinishing, and simple repairs.

Our specialty is fine veneer work as well as book matching, marquetry & beautiful finishes, hand-buffet lacquers, traditional shellac, gold leafing and more. Our customers praise us for our professional approach to every project, usually starting in our showroom where we display our designs and discuss ideas, inspirations, use of materials, and finishes.

The big step is preliminary drawings, showing different designs based on the information we have on hand. By involving our customers in the creative process, we are able to ease the sometimes complicated design and development. They find the finished product is a treasured one-of-a-kind creation.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. We provide all services from small veneer repairs (such as water & finish damage, or fixing cracks & chips), to heirloom and antique restoring (we have worked on all styles, from 50 year old mid century, to 300 year old Austro-Hungarian Empire), and 100% custom sets (full kitchen cabinets, complete bedroom sets, dining sets to seat up to 20 people).

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. We ask the requests be very specific regarding the size and functionality of the furniture desired to be developed. Please note the materials and finishes if known. The more information provided, the better service we will be able to provide.

If the request is for restoration or repair, please provide the type of furniture and specifics about the damages to be fixed.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. What kind of joinery is used to make your furniture? For instance: Are the joints traditional and higher end, like mortise and tenon? Or more mass market, like screws and pegs?
Do you have options and suggestions to how to repair/restore antiques?
Are the services warranted?
What the price options and are there levels to the pricing depending on the details and intricacies of the work?

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Does the shop they finally choose make furniture up to their needed standards for right price?
What quality does the consumer demand, and what is their budget?
Will the shop be able to create their desired pieces by the deadline within the needs of their budget?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We are a very highly specialized shop that has dedicated years to honing the centuries old craft of fine woodworking and veneer. Because the majority of work we do is custom, we do not have many contemporaries in the area.

Finally, we apply this high end knowledge and experience to all aspects of the services offered; from completely custom pieces, to precious antique restoring, to basic furniture repair.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Every day we are privileged to work in a medium and art form that we are passionate about.
