Introduction: E.Y.E. for Art, Inc. is a beautification organization founded by artist/instructor T.P. Chipley. This organization sprang from the "Crenshaw Art Production Club". Under the tutelage of Mr. Chipley, these young artists completed 15 murals on the Crenshaw campus. In the spring of 2002, E.Y.E. for Art, Inc. received a Congressional Award from the offices of Diane Watson. Later that semester, Duke Edward and Countess Sophie of Wessex visited E.Y.E. for Art's murals. This royal visit occurred on the anniversary of the "Civil Unrest" in Los Angeles. Mr. Chipley and his students transformed a day noted for its destruction, chaos and hatred into a unifying force of beauty, optimism and enlightenment. E.Y.E. artists kept their creative tools sharp by completing three graffiti murals in an industrial district and two interior pieces for residents. Additional elements were implemented to expound upon this poster, banner and mural business. E.Y.E. also worked on large canvas (for theatrical backdrops), wood pieces, planters, storage bins, as well as silk-screened shirts. There is no surface we cannot transform into a work of art. Just ask Norwood, 42nd Street, Virginia Road, 112th, and Laurel elementary schools, just to name a few. E.Y.E. for Art, Inc. is a three-tier program. First, the "Business" component exposes student artists to marketing, management, accounting, etc. E.Y.E. artists will have a title, pay grade and duties. Next, the "After-School Program" will improve art, English, math, and social skills of young artisans. There will be art workshops, art history discussions, and social and community awareness, in addition to long-term culturally driven projects. Finally, the "E.Y.E. Scholarship" is for high school seniors and college freshmen who have performed in a leadership capacity within E.Y.E. for Art's business and after-school programs.
