Introduction: Hello, thanks for checking out Sam Shinnick's Guitar Studio! Here I provide lessons for Guitar, Ukulele, bass, and beginner piano as well as help with Music Theory, Jazz Theory, and Songwriting/Composing. Offering remote lessons primarily, but in-person options are available if you are located near me. I have over a decade of experience teaching hundreds of students of many ages and experiences, from 4 to 80 and beginner to advanced. I received a Master's Degree in Studio Guitar from University of Southern California and a Bachelor's in Music (Jazz Studies) from San Jose State. Personally I specialize in indie, alternative rock, funk, fusion, and jazz. I have a deep love for all kinds of music, from hip hop to metal to jazz, and love getting to hear new genres and teaching students from different musical backgrounds. Sam was my guitar teacher for about a year. We did weekly virtual lessons and focused primarily on Jazz. I got a lot out of it - at that time I was very "stuck" in my playing habits and Sam helped me get to the next level. The virtual sessions and HW centered around learning and unpacking various Jazz standards, which at first was difficult for me, but once I started to figure it out my knowledge of the fretboard exploded. Sam was a very kind and thoughtful teacher, and I would recommend him to anyone looking to advance their guitar skills!

Sam gave lessons to my disabled brother. Sam was always patient, and he taught songs that my brother would know (70's to 80's rock). I think Sam would make a great instructor for either youth, or adults, anybody who wants to learn to play the guitar!

Sam is the best. He knows so much about music, is easy to work with, and has the ability to connect with anyone willing to learn. I went to him as an intermediate level guitarist, and he's helped me grow so much as a player. He's also just a sweet and trustworthy guy. Would recommend to anyone looking for a teacher
