FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are many ways to price a project and the scale and scope determines some of that. My first consultation is free. That is how we determine how we will work on your project together. Generally I charge by the hour to develop a concept and then we can move to a different structure when we move forward I always ask for a retainer and provide a complete accounting to my clients. I am a reseller so I charge sales tax on products not services. I have access to products only available to the trade or I get discounts only available to the trade which my clients benefit from.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been a designer since I was a child. Always moving the furniture and cleaning the closets to get organized. My mother started taking me to antique auctions when I was a kid and she had a big old house to furnish and I got the bug!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The client and designer relationship is an intimate one and it evolves. The designer must really get to know the client's needs to do the work of designing properly. That means you must feel comfortable with the person you choose for this work. We will need to feel comfortable with each other for sure, since we will be talking to each other and meeting with each other for a while as we move through the phases of your project to complete it. Trust and communication are essential in this relationship. The design process is complicated so you should feel that the person you are working with has your back and will make you aware of issues as they arise to save time and money.
