Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have a gift in translating my client's style and bringing it to life. Some designers have their brand, their "look" which is great-- I have mine, too, but I prefer to be an interpreter, and find the best look for the person who will inhabit the space. Everything! I love to draft, to create color palettes, to meet the contractors at the job site, to brainstorm the concept with the client. There isn't anything about my job that I don't love.

Nina’s work on my house has been a godsend. She took some basic, functional outdoor spaces around my home and turned them into comfortable and festive destinations. Since she’s done her work, I not only enjoy hosting my own social gatherings, my friends consistently ask me to host their parties at my place. I highly recommend Nina for any interior design or architectural design project. Before I hired Nina, I had a landscape contractor put up new retaining walls (I live on a hill), which gave me some additional space in my back yard for a patio with a built-in grill and a firepit, along with some built-in benches surrounding it. The contractor also had a woodworker create an outdoor cabinet for storage. However, the patio area lacked aesthetic and practical appeal; moreover, the cabinet began to break down almost immediately. Even though I was initially excited about having new outdoor space, I rarely used it. This is where Nina came in. I didn’t have any cushions for my benches; Nina selected fabric for some custom-made cushions and pillows for the benches and took care of all the ordering. She also ordered cushions for the chairs surrounding my outdoor table, which has made dining outside much more comfortable. She also ordered two amazingly beautiful and comfortable lounge chairs to provide additional seating around my fire pit. She further ordered two fantastic chaise lounges (and an umbrella!) for the small patio at the top of my hill. I have great views from up there, and now I have comfortable seating to enjoy them. In addition, she suggested and arranged for some great festival lighting for my back patio. While I had some attractive light fixtures already, the patio was a bit dark. The festival lights are beautiful and have allowed me to light up my back yard if I want, with the capacity to dim the festival lights if I choose to. Finally, Nina designed a new storage cabinet and took care of hiring an excellent contractor to build it. The cabinet is functional, blends perfectly with my house (Nina took care to ensure the cabinet was fully integrated into the back wall of my house), and is sturdy. Because I loved what Nina did with my patio area, I asked her to work on my front porch. I’ve had some water damage in the foundation under my front porch, so I asked Nina to take care of waterproofing the porch and front stairs. She scheduled and reviewed bids for this waterproofing. When the contractor we chose discovered that the front porch was poorly constructed and even more poorly maintained, she reviewed more bids from contractors who would fix the framing of the porch. The people she chose did fantastic work. I now have a sturdy, waterproofed porch that will last for several generations of homeowners. I also asked Nina to provide some seating and new lighting for the front porch so I could have another outdoor social area. Nina designed and drew some functional and attractive front benches. Not only do they provide great seating for guests, I also have tons of new storage room in the benches. She also took care of ordering additional beautiful cushions. She also created and oversaw the installation of new lighting. With all of these improvements, the front porch is now a desirable and sought after place for people to commune when I throw a party. While I loved Nina’s designs and choices, I appreciated her work ethic and organizational skills at least as much. I hate thinking about home improvement projects and keeping track of people. Nina took care of everything. She was consistent, followed up with everybody, kept track of all the details, worked efficiently with the contractors, and made a complex process run smoothly. She always explained things to me and made sure I was comfortable before she moved forward, but I never had to sweat the small stuff, which was perfect. I really appreciated all of Nina’s work. I would definitely hire her again; in fact, when I have the money to redo my kitchen, I’m going to ask Nina to design and manage the project for me.

Having never worked with a professional interior designer, I wasn't sure what to expect. Nina was amazing to work with - she was patient, listened to our thoughts and ideas, proposed several viable options each with their own unique stories and qualities, and ultimately worked with us every step of the way to realize our undiscovered vision. The result was two absolutely gorgeous bathrooms that far exceeded anything I could have come up with on my own. Her designs are a perfect fit in our modern home, yet have a touch of whimsy that reflects our family and lifestyle. The quality of finishes will stand the test of time and we are sure to enjoy these rooms for many, many years to come. I would highly recommend Nina to anyone looking for a professional, knowledgeable designer who will work with you to realize the vision that works best for you, with that extra, added touch of good design that brings it all together.

Nina did a fabulous job decorating when we moved into our new house! She picked paint colors for the walls, designed the layout of the rooms, and hung our art work. She is organized, efficiency, and lovely to work with!

Thank you Marla! Creating color palettes is one of my specialties-- a favorite aspect of interior design. The subtle, calming palette we chose for your new home came out beautifully. Organizing the flow of furniture (space planning) is another of my top skills, and I'm very happy that you were satisfied. It was a great pleasure to work with you, and I look forward to future projects. Nina

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have always loved making spaces beautiful and functional. I've always been a designer. I went to graduate school in 2006 to refine and develop a natural skill set.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Find the right fit. Look for the click. This is an extremely important relationship for your project. Choose a designer that feels like a great advocate or representative.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Interior Design is a very interpersonal profession. We aren't just about paint, carpet or new walls. As an interior designer, I draw on skills as varied as finance, art, psychology, and construction. The closer I work with my client, the more accurately the project will reflect their vision.
