I graduated from St. Mary's College of California with a BA in Performing Arts in 2015, and during my studies, I fell in love with mathematics and moved into private tutoring, online and in person, and substitute teaching in pre algebra, algebra 1 & 2, geometry, chemistry and essay writing. I have over 20 years of experience as a dance educator and am very good at breaking down systems to make complex problems user-friendly. I am also a Certified Life Coach.
My experience in education has taught me that students don’t necessarily fail because they are not capable but because they are frustrated and have low math esteem. They just need the math problem explained in a way that they can understand, that is where I excel in that I am a creative thinker.
During the session we review math concepts to improve each student's logical thinking, course understanding, and test performance. I customize my tutoring sessions to each student’s personality, homework, and textbook, offering examples of correct and incorrect solutions to help them approach problems. A recurring theme I see in students is a lack of understanding of the fundamentals such as graphing, solving equations, working with negative numbers, exponents, and fractions. We clarify and strengthen those fundamentals so they can build their skill and confidence.
I have a unique perspective having struggled with mathematics myself as a young student and then many years later excelling in it as an adult. Having this experience allows me to find ways to help a student bridge the gap from confusion and frustration to certainty and confidence.
I look forward to meeting you and your child and building their math confidence so they can excel now and in the future.
