I also encourage singing and song-writing if you’re interested in that.
I'm great with all ages and levels. I teach rock, blues, slide, country, folk (finger-picking) jazz, metal... And humbly I'll say you’ll be very hard-pressed to find a teacher who will work better with you as an individual.
I also have endless references if you want them... successful working composers, professional gigging musicians, USC music majors... Some likely future stars.
And as I’m sure you know, teaching is an art form all its own, and quite different from just being able to play well.

Michael is awesome! Great teacher, great guy. Presented information in a very approachable, guitar oriented manner. If I didn't move I would absolutely still be taking lessons from him.

Hey ya'all,
I'm a represented film composer and performing musician who trained classically (Yale, Carnegie Mellon etc.), and had just relocated my life and lady to Los Angeles when I had the good fortune of stumbling upon Thumbtack and Mr. FitzGibbon. I desperately needed to improve my guitar skills and let me tell you, look no further than this man. With his help, I made my way through a rock and roll score without having to make desperate phone calls, numerous advertising commercials, and now even feel confident stepping foot on stage brandishing said instrument. While I was improving, I also enjoyed lively discussions about music theory and rock music history that insulted my younger, more studious self. As a last note, he's also a good guy. So good in fact, that he's teaching my lady (a completely untrained musician), from the ground up and now we can play Let It Be together. I guess this is to say that he can teach all different levels which is a saintly endeavor should one have ever sat in the teacher's chair. So with that said, if you're looking for a superb guitar teacher, look no further than Michael!

I have had many guitar instructors over the last few years and Mike is the main one I go back to whenever possible.
Every experience is a good one and his attitude and energy are always a positive!
We usually do not plan and if we do we usually just let things develop.
I always look forward to seeing Mike.

If teaching is an art, this guy is Michaelangelo. He is a very good guitar player, but a fantastic teacher. In my opinion thats better than having a rediculously talented guitar player that doesnt know how to teach. And thats not to say that Mike isnt good, hes great! A nice guy, very reasonable, but he gets down to business when its lesson time, which is nice. Rad dude.

Mike is AWESOME! He has been teaching my 14 year old son guitar in a super fun and effective way! My son is looking forward to his lessons all the time and even loves to practice so he can show Mike how he has advanced. Great teacher and wonderful personality!!
