No matter the instrument, including singers, many teachers overlook teaching beyond the scales and other boring routine practice exercises. To truly be great, one must have a great ear... period! You've gotta learn to really listen and understand what you hear. No matter how advanced your ability to read music, you may find yourself quite limited without a properly trained ear.

My primary instruments are saxophone and piano - my professional experiences include working with such names as Celine Dion, Michael Buble, David Foster, Brian Mcknight, and Sly Stone.

Offering private instruction in the following areas:

1. Ear training
2. Music theory
3. Improvisation
4. Songwriting/ composition
5. Music production
6. Film scoring
7. Computer recording/ midi

Jimmy is the real deal. I first heard him play when he was in the jazz band at Libertyville H.S. and I was simply blown away by his performance! I had a son who had lessons on trumpet and showed some interest in the saxophone. My very best parental move was to connect Jimmy with Andrew. Jimmy taught him to listen to his influencers in music and appreciate how they approached the notes. Andrew soared and his collection of artists grew too. He began to appreciate listening deeply to the music. Jimmy was more than a teacher; he was a genuine friend and big brother and he didn't have to be. He took such an interest and Jimmy at the time was a Jr/Sr in H.S. and my son was in middle school. This was never just a job or about the money for Jimmy; he took a sincere interest and developed Andrew's talents like no other ever has and Andrew has since majored in music performance, so he's had plenty of talented mentors. One time Jimmy got the gig to play the national anthem at a White Sox game. We got to go see it and as usual Jimmy hit a home run with his spectacular play. Afterwards, Jimmy made a point to sit with and talk it over with my son. That's what I am talking about! Jimmy is a genuine person and a true talent and a good soul and one terrific teacher! When I listen to Andrew play today with great pride and joy, I often give silent thanks to Jimmy as the singular most significant influence ever. Thanks Jimmy!!

Jimmy is an exceptional performer, talented artist, and genuine person. I became an avid fan after hearing him at Pips Restaurant. With his giving nature, he dedicated his talent towards helping my fundraiser for a non-profit at risk youth program. I never tire of listening to his music and look forward to booking him for future gigs.

Very very talented musician, who can capture an entire room or venue and make everyone feel like he is playing only to them.
Fantasic versions of old classics ( with Jimmy's twist added) and some beautiful self penned music make for a must for any music lover.
