Years ago, I was modeling for Glamour Magazine when I was approached by one of the producers looking at my portfolio. She asked me who styled one of the shoots in my book. I said it was me. Unexpectedly, she then asked me to help style her personally which was weird because she was IN the fashion industry. But whatever. My first client!
At the end of a 10 hour shopping day, I was exhausted and thinking, "holy crap!" That was hard.
We were standing in her closet and she put on an outfit where I had just combined new pieces with current pieces in her closet and she started to cry. She said that some of the most basic, simple image advice I gave her that day, she'd never realized in her whole life. And if she'd just known them earlier, she'd have felt so much better.
I knew what she meant. I used to not understand style and image either. Once I did, it was one of the most empowering feelings I'd ever had.
