FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always had animals growing up. Trained my dogs basic obedience tricks when I was little and extra fun stuff like climbing ladders and jumping through hoops. When in collage and asked what would be your dream job it was working with animals and working in a non profit. After a few years of volunteering I ended up interning with a master trainer that trained seeing eye dogs for the blind. I loved his work ethic and how he never used harsh training methods that I've seen other trainers use. It all just evolved from training to providing dog walking services for my clients and then expanded to pet sitting. I continue to help train dogs in local rescue groups as well as the dogs in my own non profit.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Dog training, walking, hiking, in clients home pet sitting, groomer drop off and pick up, vet visits. On certain occasions we do group hikes/walks and beach trips too!
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
That pet care is an extremely important job and owners shouldn't hire people that are just doing this for extra money. The stories I've hear about the unreliable dog walkers or pet sitters people have had in their homes frighten me. I can't imagine putting my pets or my home in someones care that wasn't a qualified professional.
