FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
This is actually all answered elsewhere on Thumbtack, where I have had a page for many years. I don't really understand why I'm being asked to repeat it. As a veteran practitioner, I learned that very often clients have little respect for someone who slashes their rates or gives discounts. I tread a fine line between wanting to give away my services to anyone who needs it, and needing to make sure that I practice self-care financially.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, I like to find out a bit about why they want Reiki treatments, and whether they have had Reiki before (what that experience was like, etc.). If it's a new student who has never had Reiki, then I arrange for them to have a Reiki session with me first, so they can have a good idea of what it is all about. If it's a private session, I brief the client on what will happen, then just ask them to close their eyes, relax--and be sure to give me feedback if they have a twinge of pain or need to go to the bathroom during the session. After the session, I may or may not give feedback about what I picked up from them in terms of blockages or anything else that occurred to me about them while giving them the Reiki. It is important for me to listen to them and hear how they felt during and after. Then we can go from there in terms of repeating sessions, etc. Students receive a manual and 6 hours of training for Reiki I or Reiki II. Reiki III is about a week long course. Approximately 15 hours or more. It is important for me to monitor student progress at the Teacher level, which means outside of class. I need to be present as they practice with clients in the beginning.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I answered this. Please see my answers above.
