Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. People often come to me for relief with back pain, arthritis, anxiety and to remain healthy and balanced given their jobs, kids, etc. I've recently been working on homes more often, which is exciting since it's relatively new to most people and they love the results.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. I would follow your instincts about any healer that you hire and make sure they are certified by a reputable teacher in the Usui lineage. If you don't feel comfortable with the person for some reason, feel free to find someone who naturally clicks with you. This should be easy. I would also recommend hiring a Reiki Master over a lower level practitioner simply given the experience level and additional, very powerful skills they've been given access to and trained in using.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. I will ask what issue you're dealing with that had you contact me - so I can be most effective in healing it. Be prepared to discuss life issues that might be contributing to the issue - physical issues are a direct reflection of what's happening in the mind. Most importantly be open to healing and letting go of uncertainty or skepticism. Be open to relating to disempowering thoughts in a new way.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I take time to discuss each person's reason for scheduling an appointment and explain what to expect, how to manage thoughts, emotions, memories, sensations or other things they may encounter during their session to make sure they receive the energy as fully as possible. Ultimately, this helps them heal or balance out more rapidly than someone who isn't prepared in this way.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. What I enjoy most is hearing people talk about the relief they experience as a result, especially when it's something they've had a long time and it's now miraculously gone. I love being able to be that empowering, healing person for them.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. How long is a Reiki session? Just over 1 hour for the actual chelation (3 minutes per position, 21 positions). I schedule a 2-hour block for their first session so we can talk before and after about their issue and how to take in a Reiki session.
How many sessions will it take to resolve my issue? This can't be quoted, but it usually takes 1-6 sessions. Being open, trusting and really focusing on receiving the energy makes it more effective than indulging in thoughts of uncertainty or skepticism.
Can you do Reiki for my home or office? Yes, Reiki is very effective in clearing spaces and infusing positive energy.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. I have two actually. The first is a review: "I recently underwent lung transplant surgery and Linda provided Reiki from day one in the ICU. Linda's Reiki healing was so effective, I met my milestones early: waking up from the surgery, eating solid food, being moved out of ICU to a recovery room, I was even discharged 3 days before the surgeon had predicted. My anesthesiologist, who knew I almost didn't make it, had heard such great things about my recovery, he had to come and see me for himself. As we talked he looked like he was talking to a ghost, he couldn't believe how great I was doing. The healing work Linda did for me was painless, profound and absolutely priceless." - Capt. James L. Heavey, U.S. Navy.
In 2010 I had a client who had arthritis and it was keeping her from working. I did a Reiki session plus some extra Reiki energy work on her and she left pain-free. I was always curious if it ever came back but she didn't call me back. I spoke with her over a year later and she was excited to report that no - it never did recur. This is big news for the millions of people with arthritis. It may take more than one session for some people but Reiki is a non-invasive method that should be tried for any health issue.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. It's not so much a wish, but a "stand" that people be open to the unknown and trust that this ancient therapy can work even if they don't know "how" it works. We can't see electricity "work" but a light will turn on when we flip a switch - it's just there. I truly hope that Reiki and other alternative medicine modalities eventually become mainstream and that the western medicine community realizes that there's tremendous potential here to help people get and stay healthy.
