Introduction: Attention to detail, hands down. I'm able to let the client's needs dictate what we create, but also my experience in various fields allows me to make the right suggestions to ensure the best results. Being creative is a true passion for me and since I make my living doing this I don't really feel like I'm working at all.

Raphe filmed, produced, lit, directed, editied and did sound for my client testimonial for my Real Estate Business. He did an amazing job and gave me clear direction when I had no idea how to even begin. Raphe is patient and intuitive to help you get what you have in your head into a finished product and I couldn't even really verbalize what I wanted. He listened to me blunder away and made some incredibly effective client testimonial for me that have resulted in new clients and referrals. I can't thank you enough Raphe...YOU ROCK!!

Raphe is always my first choice for a DP. I've worked with him over half a dozen times - his work is outstanding. He is both an incredible technician and a great artistic collaborator. We've created many successes together, most notably: "The Photographs of Your Junk" (short film - seven film festivals); and "Modern U.S. President (YouTube 2 million hits). I felt confident enough in his abilities to refer him to legendary TV producer Norman Lear for a project. Bottom line: he shoots beautifully and he's great to work with.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing for certain aspects of video creation and editing is complicated because there are a lot of moving parts there. Generally, in regards to shooting something I'll operate on a day rate that may or may not include equipment (cameras) with it. This, however, changes with each job depending on how involved I'll need to be creatively. When it comes to editing, I usually offer a base hourly rate combined with minimum set of hours and any additional hours are agreed upon before the work begins. Regardless of anything though, it is important for clients to know that I can always work within your budget, as long as it is discussed before hand.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I studied photography in high school many years ago and from there my passion blossomed. In college I studied Media Arts and learned the aspects of filmmaking that would set the foundation for my career in Los Angeles. It's something I knew I had to do, not just wanted to do.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

So much of what you are getting when you hire someone to help you create or finish your project is actually a relationship with that person. You don't need to be best friends with the person you hire, but it certainly is important to make sure you are both operating within the same wavelength. That is usually something you can tell by meeting in person or having a phone call before agreeing to do any work.
