Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I am not only a fantastic writer and storyteller, but I am also very thorough. Before I ever write or edit anything, I do the research. This includes time spent with the client, as well as time researching your project and reviewing what your competition has been doing. Different projects require different language, energy and voice. I can help you find or maintain yours. While I've served clients in various markets, my passion remains singular: I love to help people share their stories. Whether I'm creating copy for a health care brochure, writing a feature about a TV star, critiquing a script or cleaning up an application or proposal, nothing gives me more pride than when a customer or subject says, "That's exactly what I was going for!"

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have always been a writer, but it was "just" a passion. In my mid-20s, after years of working in the nonprofit sector, I picked up and moved to Spain. i spent two years traveling and teaching English, and suddenly had time for reading again. Reading led me back to writing and by the time I came back to LA, I was committed to turning my passion into a career - And I succeeded!

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

While I'm an entertainment journalist, first, I am a Jack of All Trades for my private clients. In addition to professional marketing and PR materials, I've helped several clients draft or finesse letters, reports and essays for legal cases, school and financial aid applications and various work projects. Check out DeannaBarnert.com for samples of my professional marketing copy, paid advertorials and more.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Be wary of anyone offering to do your work for a pittance. Yes, I was already a strong writer when I broke into the business. I did some great work - Sometimes a newbie will pan out. But that doesn't mean they're professionals yet. If you want a pro with experience, you have to pay for it.
