Thumbtack Spotlight
Tutoring Services
Provided by: MT AssociatesService from the Heart
In the past, quite a few harsh words have been thrown into the faces of intellectually-challenged children. These children helplessly suffered from bullying. More often than not, they carry this burden up until adulthood. Lucky for some who successfully grow their way out of these labels, but for most of them, it becomes an ultimate putdown.
Just like how these words have evolved, so has the society we live in. Thank heavens for people who generously share their tutoring abilities to those who need it. These are people with figuratively big enough hearts who are willing to stretch their patience out teaching kids who are not even related to them. And, that is Michael Thal.
I charge my clients by the lesson. A lesson can go anywhere from 60 minutes to two hours. I don't look at a clock. I plan a lesson and expect my students to finish it. Being stubborn, I won't leave until I'm sure my pupil has learned his/her lesson. My clients have included students in kindergarten all the way into graduate school.
Now, that is what we call service from the heart. To quote his experience on his most favorite project:
Stone was my longest lasting student. I started working with him when he was in the 3rd grade. Diagnosed with ADD, he needed to see me daily. By the time he reached 7th grade, my services were no longer needed. I was pleased with his progress, but miss the child. His mom says he's succeeding nicely on his own in high school.
Michael Thal is also a writer who has published a handful of books, articles, and columns on education and parenting for intellectually-challenged children.
With this accomplished freelance writer and teacher, you are sure your kids are in good hands, and that their scholastic performance would be a far cry from before.
