Introduction: My work stands out from others because I go above and beyond just a simple tutoring session. In the beginning of every session I give a short quiz to measure the students progress, which will be reported to the student and/or the parents if so desired. (On the first session, I give a quiz to measure basic knowledge of the subject and to try and find out where the student needs improvement. In addition to this quiz, a short survey is given to pinpoint the student's unique learning style). I will also email, if desired, any extra problems, notes, websites, that I feel would help the student succeed in their academics. The thing I like the most about my job is being able to help the student learn complex concepts, which they thought they would never be able to understand, and applying them to all subsequent problems they encounter. It feels amazing when, after a tutoring session, a student not only understands these complex concepts, but is able to apply them to solve all kinds of problems. This way the student is not dependent on the tutor to help them in every single problem, but is able to carefully analyze the problem and apply the concept(s) they have learned to solve it. In the end that is what tutoring is truly about.

Enrique is one patient and smart tutor. He is a fun guy and willing to help people who are in need. He could explain my chem problems and show me how to solve the calculation problems. He helped me with all the possible way that he could to understand the concept. For instance, he showed me his lecture from his old chemistry class to make me understand more of the chem concept. It's very difficult finding a tutor that won't just help you during the tutoring session, but will email you with quizzes, websites, notes, etc, that will help you reach your academic goal. I'm not the quickest to learn and it often takes several tries for me to understand what many would think should be simple, but through his gradual teaching methods, I was able to stay focused and not just learned, but understood what I was learning. I did not simply forget after I was done with the tutoring session which is a most certain welcome when you need help that some teachers seem unable to give.

Great tutor, really patient and knows the matieral well. Because of his help, I was able to fully understand the matieral much better, made the homework that was handed out, easy to finish. Will definatly look for his help when I hit a wall in the math subject. Highly recommend him!!!

College Algebra Great tutor. Clear explanations on any problem I had. Very helpful and works around your schedule. I have passed my test with great scores thanks to him. If you want to successfully pass your math class then he is the tutor for you.

He was short with me and couldn't answer my questions. Everytime I tried to meet with him he didn't have time. He didn't understand the math I was doing. I don't recommend him

How did you get started doing this type of work?
Well, it was the Fall semester and I was taking a Biology course in community college. A couple of other students and I had a small study group, which met every week. Usually, the other students would ask me for help and I would gladly help them. I found that I loved helping them out and seeing them improve their test scores, and more importantly their understanding of the subject. Eventually, I asked myself, "Why don't I do this as a job?". I applied at the Learning Center in my school and was hired. Since then I have been tutoring students and have enjoyed every minute of it.
What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common types of jobs I get are middle school, high school, and community college students that are struggling in Algebra 1 & 2, Trigonometry, and Chemistry.
