FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Every four years all Notaries Public have to renew our Commissions, with a prescribed Education series, an Exam given by the Secretary of State's Office, an new bond, a new seal. I have been a member of The National Notary Association for 20 years. I attend webinars and all of the education provided. The latest development in California Law will be on January 1, 2015 and I have already read the law and ordered the newest forms.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I became a Notary Public while managing a Senior Property for Insignia Management in Whittier. The residents (about 50) were low income and needed at least 6 documents notarized for the Community Service Office to remain on low income housing. The documents had to be done by a certain time and the residents could not afford to pay $60.00-$70.00 to have the notarizing done.I took the exam, passed, and received my Commission, Seal and Bond 3 months before the due date for the documents. The residents were not charged for their documents .
- What types of customers have you worked with?
On Wednesday at Langley Senior Center here in Monterey Park, I usually notarize, Healthcare Directives, Pension Proof of Life, Trust Documents, Grant Deeds, Deeds of Trust and bank documents for transfer of funds.
