Reggie is one of the leading music instructors in the Bay Area. He holds a BA in music and a teaching credential in Music Education. He has been playing guitar for 37 years and loves to teach and coach with each lesson tailored to the individual needs of a student. He videos the last 2 minutes of each lesson for students to remember and see their assignments. He currently teaches in San Jose, Los Altos, Mount Hermon, and Danville.

"Reggie Coates provides an atmosphere for young and old guitarists to be around other musicians, receive encouragement to be the best they can be, and experience their potential as musicians. He encourages an atmosphere of anticipation and fun while each guitar player senses his significance as a musician." ~ Phil Keaggy, concert and recording artist

"I would like to recommend my friend Reggie Coates. He's a nationally respected worship leader with excellent communication skills and genuine instrumental proficiency. His years of experience as an instructor, coupled with a heart of integrity for the service of God, provide a unique blessing everywhere he goes." ~ Jay Leach, concert/recording artist and Los Angeles studio musician

"Reggie Coates is an awesome guitar teacher. One thing that I really appreciated about him was his patience with everyone. He allowed us to ask questions, and showed us hands on how to play the thing he was teaching us and when someone wasn't getting it, he would go over to them and put their fingers on the strings where they should be. He was great!"

Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Lessons are intensive, fun, easy to understand, and tailored to the needs and goals of each student. One thing I do that no one else does is video the last few minutes of each lesson so students can download it and see what they are to practice all week long.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love people and I feel fulfilled when I see others using their gifts and talents to their full potential. It's exciting for me to see students improve quickly and enjoy the learning process every step of the way.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Where do you teach? I teach in San Jose, Mount Hermon, Los Altos, and Danville.

How much do you charge? I charge $45 for 30 minutes, $65 for 45 minutes, $85 for 60 minutes, and $100 for 75 minutes. Some students take lessons weekly, some bi-weekly, and some monthly.
