FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always been an artist and have a BFA degree in art because it’s what I love. I painted my first commissioned mural in college in a sub sandwich shop I worked in. The mural business really took off in the 80’s when I painted model homes for developers.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Lately I have been doing many outdoor walls, especially around pools and retaining walls. These are usually large jobs and the smoother the wall surface, the better and more detailed the mural will be. It is amazing how a tropical scene, a garden, waterfalls, jungle, etc can add personality, beauty and expand your yard.I also do alot of ceilings. Clouds, sunsets, birds, underwater scenes are all creative and fun. All kids want something fun in their bedrooms. It is fun when they can get involved too. Sometimes I let them paint in a flower etc. so they feel they helped. Dining areas and kitchens always can use some flair.I even paint cabinets, moldings and doors too look like wood.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I am so proud of a recent job received from Thumbtack. I traveled 100 miles to meet the client who gave me a key, a deposit and left for a week. He trusted me to "Do my Thing"."Just make it an Italian Villa" (not to mention I stayed at his adorable Palm Desert home. I worked day and night to get done to watch his reaction when he walked in the door. He was THRILLED. He asked me to stay another week to do more,I even helped him furniture shop! He is now one of my new dear friends and met new friends during the project, not to mention some new leads.
