Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Are you Certified IICRC/Clean Trust? What proof do you have to provide to me that the products that you use are green or California Low VOC? Are Insured? Do you use truck mount or portable Systems? What are the Steps in your cleaning process? What do your services provide? Can you do pet odor/stain control? Do you do Saturday calls or appointments? Can you clean high rise apartment/ buildings? Can kind of Vacuum should I use, and how often should I? How long would the cleaning process take? How long should I have to wait before I can use my carpets again? Do you move furniture? Do you clean rugs and if so what fabrics can you clean? How often should carpets be cleaned?

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Carpet cleaning is not supposed to take 15 minutes. A true professional should be courteous, knowledgeable and have some education. For that reason when someone is cleaning your carpets/rugs/ and upholstery they should explain each process and why each step is important. Every step is not only important but should be done. The biggest ugly trade secret is that a lot, a lot of people who clean carpets will not be honest about being Green, to get a job or to satisfy the customer’s curiosity they will say yes I am a green cleaner, but there are questions that you can ask and supervise the work that will give you the answers. Ask to see the MSD sheets the products MSD Sheet will explain all of the ingredients and give you a strong direction if the products being used are at what level hazardous to the health. Some Spotters are extremely highly dangerous and flammable.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. What makes us stand out is that we really give you more for your money. Our services are professional. We will provide MSDS (material safety data sheets) on them they explain the hazard level and ingredients, very little carpets cleaning companies carry these. We will always pre-vacuum all of the areas we are to clean this is the same with are rugs or upholstery or vehicles this is done to help ensure us that we will leave the carpet as clean as it can be left. We will identify and advice if we feel that you will be satisfied on the results. There will be cases were Green will not be able to achieve the results necessary such as with Pet odor/ stain contamination or synthetic dye removal we will always explain give advice and ask permission before ever using a non Green process.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. I will strongly education. Education is very important from going school and becoming certified, to taking all the right steps in shining as a professional. Becoming certified is important but so are all of the legal responsibilities such as registering your business to your county and receiving a business license for your trade, getting Insurance for your and your customers protection and peace of mind, buy a bond for your trade. A website that is not maintained is like having a brand new car but never washing it or having it serviced it needs attention. Never be afraid to admit that you might very well be wrong that is why education is so important to explain and answer the questions that a customer may have correctly and as a professional this is some of the qualities that will make you stand out.
