Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. Dog boarding in my home, dog walking, cat visits, medication administration.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Get a referral or references. Make sure the pet sitter has insurance. Spend time talking to the pet sitter, on the phone and in person to see if they are a good fit. Remember, you are probably giving them the keys to your home and trusting them with the care of your best friend. I have free initial consultations so the client can get to know me and vice versa.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I provide customized pet care. Instead of taking care of groups of dogs as in group walks or a doggie day care, I treat each pet as if it were my own. They stay in my house and are treated like my own pets. I provide individualized walks and visits. In other words, the visits are "taylor'd" to the client. The prices are also "taylor'd" to the client. I also provide medication administration when the pet needs it.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I love animals and they love me! I get to interact with so many wonderful pets and their owners. Every one has a unique personality to be appreciated. I also have the opportunity to make the pet's (and human's) lives better. Because of my extensive experience, including pets with medical issues, I am able to observe and make suggestions that could improve a pet's quality of life or longevity.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Do I have references? Yes, I have many happy clients who would be glad to speak to prospective clients about me.
Do I have insurance? Yes, I have pet care and doggie day care insurance.
What other types of experience have I had? I am a volunteer working to assist the vets at the Oakland Animal Shelter.
How do I get most of my clients? Most clients have been referred by their veterinarian.
What services do I provide? Dog walking, dog boarding, cat visits, rabbit visits, other small animal care, medication administration, pet taxi services.
How mush does it cost? It really depends on the situation, the number of visits, the frequency of visits, and the number of pets. I give discounts for ongoing care.
