Question and answer
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. A piece of advice that I can give a customer looking to hire a wedding photographer is make sure that you are right for each other. You want to make sure that you have the right person photographing that very special day, not just any photographer but one that you can feel comfortable and secure with their work and their character.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. My work stands out because of the fact that I've never had formal training in the art of photography. I try to capture people as they are and turn that moment into art. I love the posed shot, but even greater is the photo of a person just being themselves.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. The thing that I like most about my job is making people happy. Having someone come to me and tell me that they don't do good or look good in pictures and after the photos are shown to them are extremely happy with the outcome of the finished product. Seeing a smile on someone's face is very rewarding.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. What is the turn around time for receiving my photos?
It's usually about one week, under special circumstances it may be two but very rarely is it more than one week.
How much do you charge?
I generally don't have fixed rates. I usually charge depending on the clients budget, I like to work with my clients and build a relationship with them.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. My most recent wedding was not only a lot of fun but the photos I have to say are the best wedding photos I've taken yet. The bride was very cooperative and willing to model for the camera, not an easy thing to do on such a stress filled day. She found it in herself to be flexible and pose and just have fun in front of the camera, she was a natural and the photos turned out beautiful, her cooperativeness paid off. The photos of the ceremony were great but the reception is where I kind of let loose. I tried something that I've never tried at a wedding, I slowed down my shutter speed during a time when everyone was dancing and got some blur to show that people were moving. It turned out great and I got exactly the types of photos that I was hoping for.
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. Continuing education in photography is a must. There is always a new piece of equipment, a new style, a new technique and the list goes on. I personally love to read and am always reading photography articles and books, I watch videos and subscribe to many photography websites to be updated constantly. Learning in this field of work does not end.
Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?
A. The latest developments in the photography field are HD cameras, at affordable prices. Hologram prints which are really cool. They give the illusion of standing out while not degrading the quality of the photo. Every year there are new developments being made especially by companies like Nikon which is the camera manufacturer I use.
