Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. The most important part of hiring a designer and starting a project is to establish concrete expectations on both sides. You need to know when you will see work, how much work you will see and how and when payment will be due. Hiring a designer who is totally honest about time, cost and deliverables means there will be no misunderstandings or surprises and will make everyone much happier.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Great design often takes longer than most people think it should. As talented as we designers can be, we still can't unleash brilliance with the snap of our fingers. Often time, design solutions only get better with time and reflection by both the designer and the client. So give it time, let it simmer and thoughtfully come to the right solution together.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. The most important question for a customer to ask is how much work should they expect to see given the timeframe and budget of their project. If they want a logo, they should know how many concepts the designer will present to them initially and how many rounds of revision the designer will do. Timelines are a great way to establish this and if your designer wants to jump in without discussing one you should run.
