FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
WEVA (Wedding and Event Videographers Association) has been very instrumental is learning many of today's techniques. We spent years in the association traveling to cities around the country learning more about the wedding industry. I must say, it has paid off very nicely.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My first wedding was shot back in 1982, I had just bought a new video camera for pleasure and for my job at a local restaurant. This is when wedding videos were still in their infancy. Coincidentally, my cousin had invited me to his wedding, since I had just purchased a camera, I thought what a great way to really break it in. A couple weeks before the wedding, he told me someone was hired to shoot his wedding and for me not to get in their way. A couple days before the wedding, my cousin Tony called and informed me that his video guy 'bailed' on him, if I would be interested in doing his wedding since I had a new camera? I said yes. Well on the day of the wedding I invited a close friend of mine to help me. We shot the wedding ceremony and reception. It was a lot of fun. Tony asked if we could edit it for him. My friend and I figured out how to edit the video and so we did. When it was completed, Tony loved it, The biggest surprise came when he gave me $400.00! I was blown away. Back then that was a lot of money. After that my friend and I decided to invest in some equipment and the rest is history.
